Police seal suspected fake wine drinks factory in Lagos, arrest 48-year-old man

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have sealed a suspected factory producing fake alcoholic drinks in Yafin, Badagry, and arrested a 48-year-old man in connection with the operation.

The suspect, identified as Anaebo Emeka Hilary, was arrested following credible information from members of the public about the alleged illegal production and packaging of counterfeit alcoholic beverages.

Items recovered from the premises included suspected adulterated alcoholic drinks, empty bottles, various wine labels and production utensils allegedly used to manufacture and package the drinks.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Thursday.

According to her, the suspected factory has been sealed, while the recovered items were taken to the police station for further investigation. The suspect is also being detained as the investigation continues.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the officers involved for their vigilance and swift response to the information.

He reiterated the command’s commitment to intelligence-led operations against criminal activities across the state and urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to the police.
